MCA Denver Teens is the umbrella for all of the programming that MCA Denver offers Denver’s teens. Programming included things such as: internships, pop up shops, art features in MCA Denver gallery space, maker fairs, and many more programs.
We worked to create and implement a visual identity and language for the MCA Denver Teens brand.
Brand Inspiration
During our exploration phase we kept reading one piece of consistent feedback on surveys. These young artists wanted to be taken seriously. Many of them were deeply involved in not only the programs MCA offered but other community arts based programs as well. They didn’t want something that felt like a museum version of a children’s hospital, they wanted MoMA.
With our update of the brand we wanted to achieve two things: closely tie the mark to the MCA parent brand and create something that resonated with how these creatives viewed themselves.
When we saw these events in person we saw unique young artists who were beginning to build their creative voice. We wanted to replicate that energy in the mark and system and created a visual language of ever shifting shapes, representative of the uniqueness of each member.
We ditched the day-glo for a palette that felt warm and sophisticated and created several layout templates for items such as: event flyers, posters, and social posts.
